Hello, my name is Kacey Dutton and I am a freshman Occupational Therapy student at the University of New Hampshire. I am starting this blog as a way to keep my writing skills sharp and to share my own experiences as I journey through college. My goal in life is to be as well-rounded as I can be, to walk in Jesus’s footsteps and poor the love I have found in him into everyone I meet, and to help other people reach their own dreams in life through Occupational Therapy.
A lot of people don’t know what Occupational therapy is, so let’s straighten that out first. Occupational Therapists asks people what they want to be able to do and what holds value and meaning for them. They assess the person holistically and through intervention and adaptation, they empower the individual to participate in those activities. Occupational Therapists are also educators, a support system, and advocates for their clients.
Aside from my role as a college student, there are numerous occupations that I love to participate in including skiing, sailing, writing, acting, guitar, singing, and art. If you are interested in Myers Briggs personality tests, I am an INFJ. That means I am an introvert. So, entering college I was understandably nervous about meeting new people. My solution? I decided to paint my shoes as a way to wordlessly express myself and start conversations and it worked! I have met so many amazing people since I started attending University and I love them all. The end of my first semester when student loan payments began sticking out their nasty little heads, I finally decided to monetize my craft. I started Moses Supposes Art and set up a facebook page where I could sell hand-painted canvass shoes.
You have probably seen my hand-painted creations on this blog. If you are interested in owning a pair of your own, the process is pretty simple:
1. Open your imagination, think about what you love and are passionate about and what your dream shoes would look like. Then, message me and share your ideas.
2. Bring/mail me your clean, plain canvass shoes and any reference pictures you may have
3. Wait patiently (This is the hardest part)
4. Make your contribution to my education
5. Tell your friends where you got those cool shoes
